Best Idea of the Week?

Hey, I was just thinking. What if instead of landing on a crazy island full of mysteries, Oceanic 815 landing on a crazy PLANET full of mysteries? That’s right, LOST in outer space, on a planet that the surrounding planets can’t find, except for one asshole with a space freighter and his daughter. I know exactly what it would be called too. Space Lost! Perhaps it would look something like this:

You may be thinking to yourself or aloud to friends around you “Adam, you just did some shitty computer painting over a Lost screen capture.” Shitty you say? Perhaps you missed the painstaking details of the American flags on the space suit sleeves or the crashed rocket in the background or how Jack now fittingly has a ray gun instead of a rifle.
Maybe you should open your eyes before you think to yourself or aloud to friends.

New Lamp

Hey film friends? Are you familiar with the grip/gaffer’s putty knife? It’s just like a regular putty knife, only it’s got a 5/8″ baby pin on the end of the handle, like this. Wedge that in a door frame or under a counter top and you can plop a lil’ light down.
While moving into the new apartment, I knew I would need a little reading light, so I took a cue from work and made this guy:

Nice flexible neck for positioning.

Ashlinn can read too!

I got the light from work for free. It used to look kind of like this until I cut it down a bit. The putty knife was found at an estate sale. 50ยข well spent.

well well well…

Despite the fact that I’m having a hard time reintegrating my iPhone with my laptop and it’s new hard drive, I am very glad to be back behind a computer (or am I in front of it?)
By the way, have I ever mentioned photographers suck at math?

BrickCon ’08 Update

As I said in a previous posting, I attended this year’s BrickCon, a yearly festival to display custom Lego creations. I couldn’t find my camera to import the photos I took, until now, so here they are.

That last one was clearly not made out of Lego, but a real BRICKHEAD must have been driving! HA! All of these photos are on my Flickr, so go there if you want descriptions.

Peanut Butter & Bacon

My favorite sandwich is made up of two pieces of toast, slathered with peanut butter, and filled with crispy bacon. I have eaten this sandwich since I was younger, and it was the most variety in a single meal that I had until I was in college. It was the only thing that my sister and I could agree on when we were kids (except she chose to eat hers open faced, while I went for the closed face.) Recently I was amazed by how thick and strong a piece of bacon was, that I realized it was capable of supporting peanut butter on top of it. Cut out the bread and just let the meats and pastes hang out without the pressure of all those carbs. Surprisingly (to me, probably not to anybody else) it totally sucked. The ratios were all off, and it didn’t have the same feeling to it. I was disappointed beyond belief. I did make sure to document it before I ate it though. Feel free to try it, but be forewarned, it’s not as good as it looks.

By the way, you may notice a new link just below the header image of this blog. That link will bring you to my new collection of photos taken while riding my bike. They will most likely take place during my commute to or from work, but may also include the late night ride around town. It’s kind of a hybrid between Bagwell’s Digital Diary and Alan & Mo’s Project Tandem (someday I’ll get my own ideas. I promise.)
In conclusion, somebody better buy me one of the new iPods soon.

More Pictures!

I finally found the cable for my SLR. I uploaded some pictures from the second half of our cross country trip. Most of these are from South Dakota, Montana and Oregon (there wasn’t much to take pictures of in Idaho.)

Check out my Flickr page if you want to read the descriptions.

Cig Harvey / Anita Shreve Photo Shoot

The following are a few stills from a shoot I did with Cig Harvey back in Rockport. I was the gaffer’s assistant, which was basically the best boy electric, since I was also the equipment rental house too. Working on a photo set is similar to a film shoot, but seemed to be a lot less rushed. Maybe it was because we were all such good friends and have worked together before. Also, you can get away with a lot more hollywooding of gear. I would often find myself crouched down holding a Flexfill or some bead board. These shots are from three of the 5 day shoots that we did. The other locations included a snowy gate, the front and back lawns of the Camden Public Library and the upstairs bedroom in Doug and Cig’s house.

The images and descriptions can also be seen and read on my Flickr photostream.

Maine to Ohio

The following are a few photos from Ashlinn and I’s bike trip from Maine to Ohio. I didn’t start shooting until we reached a high point in New Hampshire. From that point on, I kept my camera closer to me so I could shoot more often. If you want to read about each picture, you should go to my Flickr page and read the comments.
