Blue Raleigh Revisited

I have noticed that the blue Raleigh that I posted about earlier this month is consistently parked in the same spot during the work day. I decided that this bike needed to be better photographed so I grabbed the SLR and took a few more shots.

I couldn’t decide which photo of the seat to include. They both have such different moods to them, I figured I would post them both and let you decide which one suits the bike best.

Blue Raleigh

I spotted this fella while cruising around Portland. I like the color, but the owner didn’t do the best job of painting it. I’ve heard my father complain about orange peel since I was a kid, so seeing it has always bothered me. Other than that, it looks great.

Update: I reshot a few photos of this bike. See them here.

Greasy Father

It turns out there are no bicycle shops in western Maine that stock hub grease. This became an issue when I went to overhaul the front and rear hubs and the headset on the Puch. As usual, there’s a solution in Dad’s garage, but it ain’t pretty.

I suppose it’s close enough to what I would have bought at a bike shop, but the color is going to be very misleading when I open it up to inspect for dirt later.
