It’s hard to believe that my cycling shoes are the oldest pair of footwear I own.

If you don’t follow me on Twitter, you may not realize that I’ve been bitten by the Instagram bug. Follow me if you like, @morepizza.
As for the above picture, I’ve always wanted to modify a shopping cart into a bike trailer. This guy beat me to it, but I’m pretty sure I would have gone with the jumbo sized Home Depot cart.

A Trip to the Bike Factory
A stones throw from the border of Maine lays a small New Hampshire town of Newmarket. Here in the historic river side mill is The Bike Factory New Hampshire. Under one roof you can find two of the most well known brands in the American built cycling industry, Independent Fabrications and Baileyworks Bags. I dropped into the shop and was greeted warmly and got to take a few shots around the building.

The Showroom
The frame on the left is tack welded in place. You can make out the rainbow colored area on the fully welded frame in the foreground.
Frame finishing prior to painting.
If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend visiting The Bike Factory NH.

Locked to a Food Truck
Cynthia
I went for a walk to the hardware store yesterday. I didn’t ride my bike because it had just snowed and I was thinking about the ice and salt in the roads. I was curious if other folks had cycled that day, so I took my camera. My first subject was an old Raleigh leaning against Rosemont Market. It wasn’t that different from all the other Raleighs I see around Portland, until the owner came out.

This is Cynthia. She’s in her 80’s, was in the Peace Corps and used to work in Kenya. She was riding her bike that day, which is something she has enjoyed since she was 8. Needless to say, I was impressed and found myself fortunate to bump into her. It’s always good to get a reminder of the importance of enjoying life to it’s very fullest.
HOT DAMN!
I’ve been following Alex Wetmore’s blog for a while now. He seems to be quite the skilled framebuilder, and that is clear in his newest post. The “adventure touring bike” is a filet brazed frame with S&S couplers and a killer fork crown.

More images can be seen on his blog and his smugmug. This post is deep into the Want category.
